Health tourism in the South of Russia has a long tradition based on the natural resource potential of the territories included in the Southern Federal District. Historically, the development of the health resorts of the South of Russia was connected with the beginning of the use of natural medicinal resources for human needs in restoration of health, which has acquired a mass demand. Unfortunately, not all resort areas identified natural resource potential is used in full measure, moreover, some resorts has partially lost its historic value due to various reasons associated with the low level of responsibility of local authorities for the preservation of the resort's heritage, its development in modern conditions, lack of financial resources.
